Meeting Room
Hiring the meeting house

Two rooms are available for regular or occasional hire in our Meeting House in Blackheath Village. They are suitable for meetings, workshops, exhibitions or community events, with the convenience of the village on the doorstep.

Our unique building is on two levels which can be divided into separate, self-contained areas. Both floors have toilet and kitchen facilities.

Bookings and enquiries: We welcome regular and occasional bookings from Sunday afternoon through Saturday. We have a number of regular users from Monday to Saturday between 9am and 10pm, especially during school term time.  Email us on the address at the bottom of the page or at
quakerhall@aol.com.

Disabled access: there is full disabled access to each floor, but not between floors.  One toilet on each flood has wheelchair access.

Equipment: There are plenty of tables and chairs. There may be some storage space for hirers’ equipment. Large mobile display stands for pictures, posters, etc., are available for use in the lobby or the main meeting room. Ask us.

Location and parking:
Blackheath Village has excellent public transport links (shown on our map). There is metered parking in the village, at the train station and Post Office. Two parking spaces are available to letters at the lower level (access from Independents Road) but must be booked in advance with the administrator. Blackheath Hospital controls access to Independents Road. On street parking is possible in the evening and on Sunday.

Upper level

The main meeting room upstairs (pictured above) is near-square in shape: maximum dimensions 8.6 × 7.6 metres, area 65 m² (678 ft²). The room is lit by a central lantern and via skylights in the ‘turrets’ at the four corners. Seating capacity depends on the arrangement of the chairs, but up to 80 can be accommodated in the usual arrangement. The maximum comfortable limit is about 80 people.

Pictures can be hung on all the walls of the room. (The hanging facilities are concealed, so do not appear in the photographs of the building.)
Outside the room is a large lobby (58 m², 624 ft²). Opening off this is a unisex toilet with disabled access and baby changing facilities. There is a good-sized kitchen with tea/coffee making facilities and food preparation area.

Additional facilities:

  • Hearing loop
  • Piano (for use with advance notice)

Lower level

The room is rectangular in shape: maximum dimensions 9.3 × 5 metres, area 46 m² (496 ft²). It has two doors and can be divided into two unequal halves by a folding screen. The floor is lino. Seating capacity is 40 or more.
Opening off the lobby are two unisex toilets and a small kitchen with tea/coffee making facilities. One of the toilets has wheelchair access and baby changing facilities.
Wifi is available.
